What does a one-day exam drive really cost?
A hall, invigilators, printed papers, days of evaluation, the team's travel. Add it up for your own drive, then see what the same exam costs online, with every candidate's identity checked and the whole sitting recorded.

Start from our example, then change any number to your own. Nothing you type leaves this page.
- Selfie and photo-ID check
- Webcam photos and full recording
- Auto-marked results and Excel export
In-person figures are examples you can change; your own costs will differ by city and season. RootPro prices are our current prices. Your team's time preparing questions is not counted on either side.
What an in-person drive asks of you
The bill is only part of it. These are the problems that cost the most, and they rarely appear on a budget.
Venue and dates
Halls or labs to book, a date that suits everyone, and the full day paid for even when half the seats stay empty.
Invigilators
Roughly one person for every 25 to 30 candidates, briefed, fed and paid, and still unable to watch every desk at once.
Proxy candidates
An ID card checked at the door does not stop a well-prepared stand-in, and there is no photo record to look back at later.
Leaks and reprints
Printed papers travel, wait in rooms and get photographed. One leak means a new paper, a new date and a second bill.
Manual evaluation
OMR scanning or hand marking takes days, and every score is copied into a spreadsheet by someone, with the errors that brings.
Candidates who cannot travel
Strong candidates from other towns skip a drive that costs them a day, a ticket and a night away.
One bad morning
Heavy rain, a transport strike or a power cut, and the whole drive is rescheduled, with the venue paid twice.
No evidence afterwards
When a result is questioned, all you have is an attendance sheet and an answer sheet.

When an in-person drive is still the better choice
If most of your candidates have no computer with a webcam, if the test is hands-on, or if a rule requires a physical centre, keep the hall. Many teams combine both: an online first round for everyone, then a short in-person final for the few who qualify.
- Use your own lab. Run RootPro on your college's computers: no printing, no evaluation, and far fewer invigilators.
- Mix and match. Candidates with a laptop sit from home, the rest in your lab, at the same time and on the same test.
- Shortlist first. An online first round means the in-person final is a room of ten, not three hundred.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to conduct a one-day recruitment drive in India?
It depends on how many candidates you invite, how many cities you cover and what you provide. With the example assumptions on this page (300 candidates at one centre, a hired hall, one invigilator for every 30 candidates, printed papers with OMR evaluation, refreshments and the hiring team's travel) a one-day drive comes to about ₹92,500, or ₹308 per candidate. Change any number in the calculator to match your own drive.
Is an online proctored exam cheaper than an offline exam?
Usually by a wide margin, because there is no venue, no printing, no manual evaluation and far fewer people needed on the day. On RootPro, a Day pass for up to 500 candidates costs ₹2,999 plus a 2% platform fee. Your team still prepares the questions, in either format.
How do you stop impersonation in an online exam?
Each candidate takes a selfie and shows a photo ID before the exam, and the two are compared automatically, with a reviewer able to confirm any doubtful match. Webcam photos and a full recording continue through the exam, and the attempt is locked to one device.
What if some of our candidates do not have a laptop?
Run the test in your own computer lab, or a partner college's lab. You still save the printing, the evaluation and most of the invigilators, and every candidate gets the same identity check and recording. Candidates who do have a laptop can sit from home at the same time.
How many candidates can take the exam at the same time?
A Day pass covers up to 500 candidates in a day, all at once if you like. A Weekend pass covers 1,500 over three days with up to 1,200 at once, and a Month pass 5,000 over thirty days. For larger drives we prepare a quote.
How quickly do we get results?
Objective questions are marked the moment each candidate submits, with the integrity report alongside. You can export everything to Excel, show candidates their scores, or keep results private until you decide.
When is an in-person drive still the better choice?
When most candidates have no access to a computer with a webcam, when the test is hands-on (a lab practical, a machine test, a group discussion), or when a rule requires a physical centre. Many organisations combine both: an online first round, then a short in-person final for those who qualify.
